Slates & Clapsticks
Back Up Next We are authorities in production sound recording for video and filmmaking. We also have lots of accessories for videography; and are dealers for Casablanca, AVIO, and Renommee non-linear video editors; as well as turnkey AVID & AVID Liquid (aka Pinnacle) editing solutions.  If you would like a copy of our 2005/2006 "cowboy cover" catalog (free, of course), please phone or e-mail us. We are working on a new 2007 catalog, coming later this year.

Note that we have lowered many prices in order to compete with "New York" discounters. Always call us to check on the latest pricing, and remember to refresh your browser, since we have heard reports of folks looking at olde pages from ancient searches rather than the current ones.

Traditional clapstick slates

Equipment Emporium is now stocking standard size 11" x 9", professional grade, white acrylic write-on/wipe-off "slates" with oak clapsticks. Price is only $49.95

A smaller professional clapstick, similar to above, but medium size 8" x 7.5" is only $34.95

Dry erase markers for the above slates are available for $2.50 each, or five for $10.00

Use dry-erase markers only (such as Marks-A-Lot Dry Erase) on acrylic slates! Do ot use Sanford Expo, it will stain. Never clean with acetone; instead use denatured alcohol and avoid the printed area.

We also have student or "novelty" black slate clapsticks. These are smaller 8" wide by 7" high, and sell for only $12.95 They make neat gifts and insert slates, but they are of lesser quality than what you would find on a working set.

Denecke introduces newest version of timecode slate...

...The TS3

December 1999 saw the introduction of the TS3 timecode slate. The first version of the Denecke slate, the TS-1, required velcro-ing a Denecke Sync Box to the back of the slate. The current TS2 version incorporatedthe sync box into the design, and utilized AA batteries instead of the C batteries of the first slate.

The new TS3 has a flat back (easier to fill out cam reports) and requires only 6 AA instead of the 8 that the TS2 uses. When the slate is turned on, battery condition is displayed.

The internal sync box features Auto Jam, which automatically detects and sets itself for the appropriate incoming timecode signal (30, 29.97, non-drop, or drop).

Equipment Emporium sells the new slate for only $1175. For another $320, a backlit slate display can be added for viewing under dark conditions.
