Fender Passport portable speaker/amp systems
For years we thought that Anchor was the ultimate in a portable, self-contained, amplified speaker package for sound reinforcement or sync playback applications. And for years, it was! But Fender has just introduced their new Passport systems, which make the older systems, well, anchors. The Passports offer a lot more, sound much better, and cost way less! They even come with a 5 year warranty! The Passport 250 is their larger system. (shown above). Weighing in at a mere 55 pounds, the system consists of an amplifier section and two detachable speaker enclosures. The amp is 250 watts, and features a versatile pre-amp section with 4 XLR mic/line inputs, RCA/TRS stereo inputs, EQ, reverb, auto music ducking (voice-activated from Mic 1, if you want it), tape outs, aux send/return, and a few other tricks. Each speaker enclosure features four 6.5 inch drivers. Included in the package are 2 dynamic mics, mic cables, and speaker cables. This system really puts out! Great for a large ballroom or exteriors. An optional DC converter allows operation from 12 volt DC. The entire system is easy to transport, since the speakers connect to the amp section to form one fully enclosed unit. Travel covers with wheels are available. Price is only $800! Almost a third of what you would expect to pay. The Passport 150 is a smaller, 28 pound, version. Same basic features, except the 150 watt amp has only three XLR inputs. The speaker enclosures have two 6.5 drivers each. Ideal for conference rooms, soundstages, and smaller exterior settings (like a backyard or large patio). We have a system set up in our showroom, and it rocks our entire building whenever we crank it up to demo. Gaelic Storm, the Chieftains, and other Celtic/Irish tunes sound great on it! Price is only $600. Fender Pro Audio products cannot be shipped to any location outside of the United States and Canada. |
