Audio Technica AT835ST stereo shotgun mic

Audio Technica recently introduced their newest models of condenser stereo microphones, the models AT835ST and the AT815ST.

The AT835ST (shown above) measures 9.3 inches long by 21mm diameter. What this means is that you can now achieve professional quality stereo audio in a package that is similar to that of a monaural shotgun mic. The mic can be used with standard shockmounts, camera mounts, and windscreens!

Note that these mics require external Phantom powering (11 to 52vDC Phantom). If your camcorder does not feature XLR inputs with Phantom power, you will need an external power supply, such as the Denecke PS-1.

The microphone offers M-S stereo matrixing, as well as two patterns (wide or narrow) of X-Y (left/right) stereo. There is also a switchable low-frequency roll-off.

Output is an integral XLR 5-pin connector on the body of the mic that feeds an (included) output cable that splits the signal to two conventional XLR 3-pin balanced mic level outputs.

Other included accessories are a foam windscreen and a stand clamp. We strongly advocate the use of a proper shockmount, such as the AT8415 universal mount.
