Membership in the University Film and Video Association

The University Film and Video Association is a nonprofit
organization founded in 1947, and currently consists of approximately 800 + professionals
concerned with the arts and sciences of film and video production. The membership includes
university and college professors, independent filmmakers, industry professionals,
publishers, educational and library institutions, professional equipment suppliers and
manufacturers.
Benefits of Sustainer Membership are substantial, in spite of the
low annual dues. Membership fees cover the cost of an exhibit space at the annual
conference; conference registration fees waived for your attending personnel;
subscriptions to all UFVA publications (the scholarly "Journal"; the less formal
"Digest" newsletter; postings/links with ourWeb site http://www.ufva.org as well as
complete sets of mailing labels of our entire membership (providing you with direct access
to the individual professors, not merely to department heads or secretaries). Unlike many
other organizations, our mailing list is cleaned and updated monthly, so your valuable
mailings won’t be wasted.
As a Sustainer, your company is encouraged to submit not only
press releases, but full length articles relating to the use of your products. The schools
and professors look forward to an exchange of practical information that they can, in
turn, pass on to their students. Mailing labels are also available to you to facilitate
the direct mail of informational literature.
The Conference is an annual week-long gathering of the membership
and is hosted by a different university each year. Activities include academic panels,
symposiums, screenings, social events, workshops, and exhibits. Attendance is
approximately 350 or so, but these attendees constitute the key players in the Production
side of Film/Video curricula.
Exhibiting at the Conference gives your company an invaluable
opportunity to research the needs of the market; to present your products; to sell to
universities; and to enlighten those who teach your future clients. You might even
consider instructing a workshop!
For the convenience of exhibitors, the technical exhibition only
lasts two days, and is scheduled to allow you to take advantage of the Saturday night
stayover for reduced airfare. If you cannot exhibit in person, you are more than welcome
to ship literature or product for an unmanned display, and we will assist with setup.
Oversize exhibit space, support equipment, and other specialized needs can be arranged
with the host at a nominal charge. Unlike more commercial tradeshows, no one at UFVA is
out to rip you off on load-in/out fees and incidentals. This is a very friendly show!
