Fostex FR2 Quick Guide
Up We are authorities in production sound recording for video and filmmaking. We also have lots of accessories for videography; and are dealers for Casablanca, AVIO, and Renommee non-linear video editors; as well as turnkey Avid Media Composer & Avid Liquid (aka Pinnacle) editing solutions.  If you would like a copy of our 2005/2006 "cowboy cover" catalog (free, of course), please phone or e-mail us. We are working on a new catalog, coming later this year.

Note that we have lowered many prices in order to compete with "New York" discounters. But always call us to check on the latest pricing, as many manufacturers are instituting price increases related to fuel/freight costs and the declining dollar. Remember to refresh your browser, since we have heard reports of folks looking at olde pages from ancient searches rather than the current ones.

Fostex FR2/TC QUICK HELP FOR SETTING TIMECODE

By Fred Ginsburg, Equipment Emporium Inc.

Note: This is a brief checklist to assist you in setting up your FR2. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the full manual first; and then this short version will make sense. It is more of a reminder sheet than a "how to".

MENU: Set-Up : Init Setup

Initialize the FR2 in order to clear out any previous users setting and revert to the Factory Defaults.

MENU: TC SETUP

TC DISPLAY: "LTC & ABS"

FRAME RATE: "30" (when shooting FILM);  "29.97" (standard non-drop video, 24P, or HD)

TC GEN MODE: "FREE" (timecode always running)

TC OUT: "GEN" (for live recording) or "REPRO" (for sync playback)

SET TC: "EDIT" (allows you to enter timecode starting numbers)

PAUSE TC: "OFF"

PULL UP/DOWN:

"0.0" (for live recording or music video shot on video)

"+0.1%" (for music video shot on FILM, will playback your original 29.97fps file at 30 fps)
